MR. ROBERT GLEED, a well-informed colored man of strong practical common sense views in regard to the condition not only of his own race in this State, but of the condition of the people of the State generally, is now in this city authorized by the Central Earnest Workers Association, of Columbus, Miss., to lecture to the colored people on subjects of domestic economy generally. Mr. Gleed and his plan are endorsed by many of the best citizens of the State, including such men as Gen. Stephen D. Lee, Rev. C. K. Marshall, Gov. Robt. Lowry, Col. J. L. Power, the mayor and all the clergy of Columbus, and very many other of the best names in the State. The benefits of Mr. Gleed's lectures in his own county of Lowndes is shown by the great decrease in crime in the county and the increased prosperity and morality of his race. The economic methods he teaches cannot fail of having their effect, and we feel sure he is engaged in a good work. Mr. Gleed will lecture in the Union school house this evening, particularly to colored people, but he is anxious that his white fellow-citizens should attend his lecture. We think we can bespeak for him a good audience, both colored and whites. The lecture will be a free one, and from the testimonials shown us by Mr. Gleed we are sure it will be an interesting and profitable one to those who hear it.
