An intelligent public will hardly credit the statement that the following resolution was passed at a recent meeting of the Ames' crew, to nominate a candidate for the Legislature, in Lowndes County. The Pilot is our authority:

"That when the horn of State shall toot for the assembling of the old guard in Representative Hall, when from every County shall leak forth the patriots extraordinary, at twenty cents per mile - when dismay shall set, like a cold slap jack, upon the countenances of every odious opposer of his Excellency, he, the said J. H. Glenn, is hereby instructed to join the glorious band, and go to Jackson, and draw his mileage and per diem regularly, and to consecrate his utmost zeal to the end that while so employed our great chief shall not experience the tragical fate of the

Grasshopper sitting on a sweet tater vine,
sweet tater vine, sweet tater vine,
When a great big gobler came up behind,
came up behind, came up behind,
And snatched him off the sweet tater vine,
sweet tater vine, sweet tater vine!
