THIRD DAY.
June 10, 1869.
The Board met pursuant to adjournment.
Present: Washington Ford, Esq., President; I. H. Henderson, I. Lowenburg, W. R. Gilreath, J. W. Alexander, members.
It being represented that H. P. Jacobs had received the appointment of overseer of the Poor House in Adams county, vice John Cooney, removed, and that under the action of the former Board of Police in connection with his contract as overseer, Mr. Cooney has valuable crops now growing on land thereof -
Resolved, That in order to avoid legal action, and damages, &c., Gen. Ames be respectfully advised of the views of the Board of Police, that the public service will be furthered if he will consent to suspend the appointment made until such time as the harvest is over, so that Mr. Cooney can safely secure and remove the result of the labors which justly enure to him.
On motion of Mr. Gilreath, the yeas and nays were called on the adoption of the resolution, with the following result:
Yeas - Messrs. Ford, Henderson, and Lowenburg.
Nays - Messrs. Alexander and Gilreath.
The resolution was thereupon declared adopted, and the President of the Board instructed to communicate the same to Gen. Ames.
