State Convention of Colored Men.

The first State Convention of the Colored Men of Ohio, met at the City Hall on Wednesday last, and proceeded to business in about the same manner and style as their white brethren generally do. They elected officers, both temporary and permanent, adopted resolutions, made speeches, engaged in discussion, appointed a State Central Committee, &c. The permanent President was John Booker of this city. The resolutions adopted favored the enactment of laws looking to the interests of the colored people; recommending the study of the law to colored young men; thanking the Republican members of the Legislature for ratifying the 15th Amendment, and endorsing the Administration of General Grant. The State Central Committee is comprised of the following persons: David Jenkins, J. P. Underwood, Ed. Jackson, C. Shaffer, J. Poindexter, B. W. Arnett, J. C. McSimpson and John Caine. -Columbus Gazette.
