DAVID JENKINS is the name of a colored politician who makes the City of Columbus his head-quarters. DAVID is an intellectual gentleman, and, next to ROBERT HARLAN and ALFRED ANDERSON, has probably performed more hard labor in behalf of great Republican party than any gentleman of colored persuasion in Ohio. Mr. JENKINS is an orator, and he never fails to lift up his voice from the stump, with distinguished frequency, throughout our political campaigns. During the winter, DAVID spends a large percentage of his time in the lobbies of the State-house. It is warm there, and in addition to the natural interest which DAVID feels in legislation, he likes to linger about the State-house, because his intercourse with great men is certain to prove advantageous. A few days ago Mr. JENKINS received an insulting note requesting him to abstain from the State-house, and informing him, much to his chagrin, that he stunk. Our able Representative, Mr. CORCORAN, brought the matter to the attention of the House, and a committee was appointed, composed entirely of Democrats, to investigate the matter. It is believed that one of the Republican officials of the House wrote the letter in question. Mr. CORCORAN is chairman of the committee, and he is clothed with authority to send for persons and papers. The Times and Chronicle will probably be the first paper sent for.
