TO THE EDITOR:
In the May 9, 1969 edition of
the RBFLECTOR an article was
published concerning the proceeding of the Student Senate
meeting of May 6, 1969.
I am quite sure almost every
student enjoyed the SA concerts.
These concerts should be put on
without off ending the students of
State. What I have reference to
is Senator Ball's statement of
Williams, "He can jew Niggers
down."
I would like very much for Senators Ball and Williams to ex~
plain exactly what the terms
"jew" and "Niggers" meap..
The Afro-American Plus publicly extends an invitation to Mr.
Williams and Mr. Ball to attend
the next AA Plus meeting which
is Saturday, May 17, 1969 in
Room 105 Union at 2:00 a.m. to
clarify themselves on certain
matters.
·we are sure Mr. Ball is interested in his self-image and therefore the Afro-Americans and all
clear-thinking individuals demand an apology.

those who helped with and contributed to the current issue
of the Inscriptus. Special thanks
go to Peyton Williams and Walter D. Boswell for their advice, to the members of Mr.

for editorial assistance and help
in sales, and to Sam Love and
the REFLECTOR staff for their
help in lay-out. Without the assistance of these people, this
year's INSCRIPTUS would never

TO THE EDITOR:
· In the Friday's (May 9, 1969)
edition of the REFLECTOR you
published the minutes of the Senate meeting. In response to a
portion of the minutes, Senator
Jim my Ball recommended Mike
Wlllial'l!s for a committee. Sena-
tor Ball stated that one of his
qualifications was the ability to
"Jew Niggers Down."
We ·would like to inquire exactly what he means. We are not
aware that this is listed as one
of ··the qualifications for com~
mittee membership ..
The members of the Afro,American Plus Club demand an
apology or a resignation from
senator Ball because we believe
he does not display the qualities of an MSU leader by making statements like the ones he
made in the Senate meeting.

Feature Describes Blacks
TO THE EDITOR:
The news feature in the REFLECTOR entitled "Stereotyped
Role' Describes Black Students"
is one that is both interesting
and informative. It is interesting
because it gives to other black
students who were not involved
in the question and answer period ideas of the feelings of some,
and it gives them a chance to
compare these feelings and viewpoints with their own. This article is also interesting to other
students to find that a minority
group of people even have something to say.
The feature is informative to
the majority of readers for many
were probably not aware of the
percentage of blacks on the MSU
campus, of their privileges to visit the President, of their "coincidental" placements in dormitories, nor of their feelings on
academic and non-academic issues.
Perhaps as a result of reading
this article many people will realize that black students are not
just a peculiar group of people;
rather they are HUMAN BEINGS
with ability to think, with a sense
of awareness, and with emotions.

TO THE EDITOR:
We would like to express our
appreciation for the very fine
program presented by the Maroon Band in the Union Ballroom
,lanation

on May 8. This variety show was
the best we have seen in a long
time, presented by the finest boys
and girls you will find anywhere.
These Maroon Band Members
and their band leaders are to
be commended for this outstanding performance.
To all Mississippi State University Staff and Faculty and students who did not witness this
performance, you missed a treat.
If MSU had any doubt where our
students stand today in this time
of campus unrest, then you would
have had this doubt removed by
seeing and hearing these fine
young men and women perform
at the MSU Maroon Band Variety
Show.
We trust that this program will
become an annual affair.
