Title A name given to the resource Lisa McGee Description An account of the resource Lisa McGee is the creator and sole writer behind Derry Girls, which she says is largely an autobiographical series. McGee was raised in Bogside, a Catholic neighborhood in Derry, Northern Ireland where, in 1969, a violent conflict between British soldiers and local Irish nationalists led to the slaughter of over a dozen men, women, and children in what is now called Bloody Sunday. Though this massacre and the many others like it characterized Northern Ireland well into the nineties, McGee does not remember her childhood purely as a sob story. In an interview for The New Yorker, she laughs about the quirks of growing up in a war zone, the “hijinks and stupid jokes” that for a pre-teen girl were more tangible than the daily tragedies. With Derry Girls, McGee sought to break from traditional storytelling about the Troubles by lacing relatively few bleak moments into three seasons of hilarious shenanigans. Describe the experience by explaining “what, where, when, who, why and how”. The experience of the AI workshop was somewhat intriguing. It was taught by Ardith during my class-time, for the purpose of learning how to use AI in Art. We used the program Midjourney and our own images to generate art. 2. What knowledge and skills previously acquired through in-class and out-of-class experiences did you use during the experience? I used my previous knowledge and experience in digital drawing to create the pieces for the project. 3. Explain what you learned during the experience and how it aligns with your academic program of study. I learned the inner workings of Midjourney and how to create AI art, particularly through the digital medium. 4. In what ways was the experience meaningful and beneficial to you? It was beneficial in showing me how AI art can be used as a tool rather than a cheat. That being said, I still feel like I am cheating. 5.
