New York Globe clipping

Our ubiquitous neighbor, Mr Hannibal Caesar Carter, (sometimes called Ham) has had a checkered political career in Mississippi. To-day he is the nominee for Secretary of State, to-morrow a private citizen; now a bloated land agent, with Oklahoma in view, then a candidate for congress, and while contesting a seat in the 48th Congress he is a candidate for Representative in the Mississippi Legislature. If the two bodies met at the same time, Hannibal would be compelled to spend his time between Washington and Jackson with a "case" before Congress and the Legislature. But as Congress meets in December, Carter will be disposed of in full time for the Legislature in January. - Mayersville (Miss) Spectator.
