[excerpt]
Rev. G. W. Gayles, D.D., one of the pioneers of the convention, delivered an address. He endorsed the good work of the President and said he had voiced the sentiment of the whole negro race. He was proud to hear his good words. "I am delighted to see that our young men are thinking in the right direction. Such addresses are worth more than a thousand strife breeders, and the man who goes over this country stirring strife between the races is a dangerous man."
