There is a bitter contest going on between Lewis, the present carpet-bag incumbent of the Sheriff's office, and Robert Gleed, for the candidacy for this important office, with the chances pretty evenly balanced but slightly in favor of Gleed. It may commend Lewis to the people of Warren county, to say that he is understood to be the brother-in-law of your distinguished Chancellor, the Right Honorable Edwin Hill.
