Dr. Walker publishes a card in the Vicksburg Herald denying that he was cowhided by Albert Johnson, the negro Supervisor, but admits the assault. The Herald repeats its statement. Meantime the editor of the Times assumes all the responsibility for what has appeared in that paper in exposition of the thieving operations of the county officials and intimates that they have purposely given him a wide berth, knowing his readiness to give them a proper reception.
