Natchez Democrat clipping

We had the pleasure of a call yesterday from Rev. W. H. Weathers, of Brookhaven, who has succeeded Rev. Hugh M. Foley, as the presiding elder of this district of the A. M. E. church. Rev. Foley tells us that he was relieved of the duties of presiding elder of this district at his own request, the work being of such a laborious character that it was too much of a task for him to perform it. His administration of the affairs of his office gave the utmost satisfaction to the conference, and he would have been re-appointed had he not declined.
