Muted ink-and-watercolor illustration of a stormy seascape. At the center, the Sea is personified as a towering woman rising from the waves, her long hair and flowing gray gown blending into the water as she extends both arms toward the sky. Large faces concealed within the dark clouds blow gusts of wind across the scene. A damaged sailing ship with torn reddish-brown sails tilts among the waves at the left, while a shipwrecked man in tattered clothing sits on the rocky shore at the lower right, looking up at the woman. The subdued gray, brown, and blue-green colors create s dark, turbulent atmosphere.
