Blind: Sophia Calle

Dublin Core

Description

Sophie Calle's "Blind" is a series of works created in 1986 where she interviewed people blind from birth, asking them to describe their concept of beauty. Calle then photographed both the individual and her own photographic interpretation of their description of beauty, resulting in a multi-part artwork combining portraiture, textual descriptions, and Calle's visual interpretations. The project explores the subjective nature of beauty and the limitations of visual representation.

Abstract
