Nature?
Dublin Core
Title
Description
In "Nature?", Marta de Menezes intervenes in the development of live butterflies to create unique wing patterns never before seen in nature. By manipulating the growth process without altering the butterflies' genes or introducing artificial pigments, de Menezes presents artworks that are simultaneously natural and the result of human design. These transient creations live and die within the lifespan of the butterfly, highlighting the ephemerality of life and art, and questioning the boundaries between natural processes and human intervention. Exhibited at the Museo Extremeño e Iberoamericano de Arte Contemporáneo (MEIAC), Badajoz, Spain.
