Wooden Sculptures

Dublin Core

Description

David Nash is known for creating sculptures primarily from wood. A significant aspect of his work is his use of unseasoned wood, which means the wood is not fully dried. This allows the natural processes of cracking, warping, and weathering to become part of the sculpture's evolution. He often uses geometric forms (cubes, spheres, pyramids) and organic shapes, working with the natural characteristics of the wood. Some of his sculptures are left outdoors to interact with the elements, while others may be partially charred or treated. Over time, these sculptures change in appearance, reflecting the passage of time and the forces of nature.
