A Gust of Wind

Dublin Core

Description

Zhang Peili's "A Gust of Wind" (2008) is a multi-channel video installation that presents the aftermath of a violent disruption within a domestic setting. The work combines video projections of the staged destruction with the physical remains of the destroyed interior, often a living room. This juxtaposition allows Zhang Peili to explore themes such as the fragility of domesticity, the chaos that can disrupt order, and, subtly, to offer social commentary on the instability of perceived social structures.
