Silueta Series

Dublin Core

Description

"Silueta Series" is a body of work by Ana Mendieta created primarily between 1973 and 1980. It involves a series of earth-body works where Mendieta shaped her silhouette or the outline of a female form in natural landscapes. She used various materials such as earth, flowers, blood, fire, and water. These works explore themes of the female body, connection to nature, identity, displacement, and spiritual or ritualistic connections. The works are often documented through photography.
